Australia has one of the more recently born branch of the Elórtegui name outside Spain.

The australian Elórtegui family are the descendants of Valentín Elórtegui Ateka, whose son Pedro Elórtegui travelled to Australia as a stowaway when he was 14.

These branch of  Elórtegui is directly related with the actual inhabitants of the caserío Elórtegui-Ena, near Arminza, a little village of the Biscay coast.
